First ever Annual Event Industry Golf Day
Announcing the first ever EVENT INDUSTRY GOLF DAY to be held at Donnington Golf & Country Club, Newbury, Berkshire on Thursday 27th September 2007.
The Golf Day is open to all those involved in the UK Events Industry, including Trade Associations and their memberships, to create goodwill between the various organisations and to bring together like-minded people for good friendly competition and business networking relationships. It is the intention to develop this into a high pro-file annual event – “a must take part in occasion!”
The programme will include light refreshments on arrival, 18 hole Individual Stableford Competition etc and include shared buggy, early evening dinner and prize-giving.
The Club is set in a delightful and secluded position on the outskirts of Newbury and surrounds the historic Donnington Castle. This 500 acre estate, which is a mixture of parkland, farmland and woodland with the River Lambourn running through it, provides an ideal setting for a golf course.
The Event Industry Golf Society (TEIGS) is an independent organisation and not affiliated to any other groups and at this stage only wishes to find out the level of support for such a Golf Day for the industry.
Stephen Lance of the Showman’s Show and The Main Event Magazine have already expressed their support for the Golf Day.
The organiser is John Barton (NOEA) and for any enquiries you may email or telephone him accordingly. There has already been an initial high level of support.

Name change for Lance Publications.
LANCE Publications, organisers of The Showman’s Show and publishers of the Showman’s Directory, have changed their name to Lance Show & Publications Limited.
Since it’s formation in 1968, the company has been a partnership between Stephen and Jean Lance and over the years it has become the backbone to the outdoor event industry, giving industry suppliers the opportunity of promoting themselves within their directory as well as at their annual event – The Showman’s Show.
The change to limited company status will not mean the demise of the family element of the business. Instead it will be enhanced with the whole family owning shares in the business and two of their children, Jeremy and Juliet continuing to be actively employed with their parents.
Stephen & Jean Lance will make up the Board of the new company Lance Show & Publications Limited.
Stephen said: “Changing the status of Lance Publications has been on the cards for some time but like with all things the timing had to be right. Jean and I have watched both Jeremy and Juliet become more confident within the business and we feel now is the right time for them to begin to take hold of the reins. Although the status has changed, the ethos of the company will remain very Lance family orientated.”

A new grandstand complex made up of two interconnected buildings will be able to host large scale events as the two main function rooms can each hold up to 600 delegates, while the two smaller rooms can seat 300. The layout of the grandstand complex allows an event to be successfully held across all of the rooms.
In summer, the open terraces, walkways, sliding doors and the tented roof are useful while in winter, the venue works equally well, with its internal links allowing people to move easily between all the major function rooms without getting either wet or cold.
The venue has already seen a number of bookings, including a themed summer party for more than 1,000 people.
